Colostrum is a substance produced by mammals that appears in the first breast milk fed to a newborn. It plays a critical role in developing bodily functions, but when taken supplementally, can also positively impact gut and immune health. Bovine colostrum is similar to colostrum produced by humans and is rich in nutrients like carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, pathogen-fighting proteins, and digestive enzymes. Its supplemental health benefits are primarily linked to the presence of proline-rich polypeptides which are beneficial for quelling digestive inflammation, allowing the intestinal lining to heal.

Calendula is a flowering plant traditionally used in herbal medicine to aid inflammation. This plant has various antifungal, antimicrobial, and antioxidant properties, which can be beneficial for preventing infection and healing tissue injuries, such as a damaged intestinal lining.
