Harmonic Arts Slipper Elm Bark 75g
2-4 tablespoons prepared as an infusion or decoction.
The Slippery Elm is a deciduous tree native to various regions of North America. Traditionally, the bark was soaked in water and used as a natural bandage. It is considered one of the best possible poultices for wounds, boils, ulcers, burns and inflamed surfaces. Slippery elm bark's strengthening and healing qualities are attributed to its main constituent, mucilage. It also contains sugars and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, and potassium. It is used as an emollient, a demulcent and a diuretic. When prepared as a drink, it acts on irritated mucous membranes of the stomach and intestines, and can remedy a weak stomach. It is also used as a lubricant of the throat and aids with bronchitis and other irritations of the lungs and throat.
